Our apps are ready for macOS Tahoe

16 September 2025

by Matt

macOS Tahoe was released on September 15, 2025 and we’re happy to announce all of our apps are now compatible with macOS Tahoe! 🥳

Bottles of Liquid Glass auto polishMic Drop even gets a shiny new Liquid Glass icon (that you’ll basically never see).

Turnip

Turnip, our time tracker for FreeAgent and FreshBooks, is already fully compatible with macOS Tahoe, so you don’t need to update. We’ll be releasing an update with a Liquid Glass app icon and new features soon, so be on the lookout for that. 🙂

Mic Drop

Mic Drop, our menu bar mute app, had some Tahoe-related hiccups—Mic Check didn’t appear and the menu bar right-click action didn’t work. We’ve fixed those in Mic Drop 2.2, now available on the Mac App Store. Be sure to update if you’re running macOS Tahoe!

We’ve also added new AppleScript commands to control the Mic Check window (and read its status).

No analytics

While we were working on updates, we also removed all opt-in analytics from Mic Drop.

In previous versions, we asked users to share anonymous analytics data with us using Firebase Analytics. However, we really didn’t find it very helpful, especially because the Firebase Analytics UI is bananas complicated. 😵‍💫

We care about your privacy, and we don’t want to be collecting data we don’t (or can’t) use to improve your user experience. So going forward, our new policy is we’re just going to ask when we want to know something. (This goes for all of our apps, not just Mic Drop.)

The new version of Mic Drop does away with any type of optional analytics:

“Data Not Linked to You”. A screenshot showing that only anonymous diagnostics data are collected by Mic Drop.

We do collect device information via Mic Drop. This to allow us to detect incompatible devices and update our device compatibility help page. It’s totally anonymous and stored in a Notion database that looks exactly like this:

We care a lot about user privacy, and we always want to be transparent about the data we do collect. We’re now collecting the absolute minimum we need to keep Mic Drop awesome. 🙂

Let us know how it goes!

If you run into any issues with Mic Drop or Turnip in macOS 26 (Tahoe), drop us a line and we’ll get it sorted in two shakes of a lamb’s tail! 🙏🏻
