What’ve we been up to lately? Since releasing Mic Drop 2.0, we’ve been working on both small fixes and big changes to Turnip, our time tracking app for freelancers.
Better FreshBooks syncing
If you’re using our FreshBooks integration, you may notice that you need to re-authenticate your account quite a bit. Unfortunately, that’s a limitation of the FreshBooks API. But we know how annoying this is, so we’ve been working on a fix.
Once it’s out, you’ll just need to authenticate one more time, we promise, and then it should stick. It’ll be in an upcoming release this month (December 2024), ready just in time for the holidays. 🎄
A redesigned tagging system
We designed Turnip to work seamlessly with your bookkeeping system. Part of that was our tagging system, which you can use on its own or with an integration. The tagging works by mapping the hierarchy of your integration (usually Client > Project > Task or similar) as tags.
There’s always a risk when you try to simplify things that you’ll wind up oversimplifying. Good design is all about finding the right details to show at the right time so as to maximise clarity. We don’t always get it right on the first try, and that’s why we love it when you write in!
So I took some time to reflect on user feedback, and I’ve put together a full redesign of the tagging system. Here’s a little peek:
